Nearly 8,000 developers have downloaded Visual DataFlex Personal from this site alone and feedback is very positive: “Awesomely simple, incredibly powerful” says one developer. Praise was also heaped on the Visual DataFlex community, “There is a very knowledgeable and generous worldwide developer community that is over the top in supporting the product and helping each other on the newsgroups”.

Visual DataFlex is available free for non-commercial and not-for-profit use only and comes with a 3-user Client Engine, Connectivity Kits for MS-SQL, DB2, Pervasive SQL and ODBC, a Personal Web Application Server and Electos, a website content management system. Pervasive PSQL Summit v10

Pervasive Software has announced the availability of Pervasive PSQL Summit v10 beta. This is the next generation of the PSQL database family that provides support for an ever-changing technology landscape. It is designed to minimise the adoption challenges of new technologies including Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, 64-bit computing, multi-core processors, dual and quad, and more.

Some of the reasons why this release is important:

  • Out-of-the-box support for Windows Vista
  • 64-bit platform support
  • Xtreme I/O (for speeding up I/O operations in large data file applications)
  • Expanded SQL syntax including long metadata
  • New Install using latest InstallSheild technology

Pervasive PSQL Summit v10 is scheduled for release late summer and we’ll bring you more details nearer the time, meanwhile if you want to try it for yourself you can join the v10 Beta Forum and let Pervasive Software have your feedback.
