Flex2Crystal to Unite VDF and Crystal Reports

  • by

Mertech will soon be releasing the full commercial release of Flex2Crystal – a product that provides a new path forward for Visual DataFlex users who use Crystal Reports.

Why is Flex2Crystal so important for DataFlex users?

Crystal Reports has always been a crucial part of the toolset for Visual DataFlex developers who want to deliver reports as part of their Visual DataFlex applications.

Dataflex users have been unable to use Crystal Reports 2008, and any later versions of Crystal Reports, due to Crystal Reports changing to use .NET interfaces, which are not supported by Visual DataFlex. Without Flex2Crystal, the most recent version of Crystal Reports that Visual Dataflex developers have been able to use is Crystal XI, which was released in 2005.

What are the benefits of Flex2Crystal?

The introduction of Flex2Crystal means that VDF developers can now move to a newer version of Crystal Reports and take advantage of the new features and improvements in that release. Even better, Mertech have ensured that you can move to a newer version with minimal changes to source code and without having to change existing reports.
