Season’s Greeting from Unicorn InterGlobal 2011

  • by

We’d like to share with you a few of the apps and Apple’s iOS5 features that you may find useful through the festive season.

Got an iPhone?

Firstly, if you have an iPhone and you’re going shopping or meeting friends for a drink, use the Find My Friends app. Instead of calling or texting, using this app, any friends who share their location with you appear on a map so you can quickly see where they are. We highly recommend this app, if you are going shopping with a partner or spouse and want to avoid the “Where have you been? I’ve been waiting here for ages” scenario, because they can see where you are and you can see that they are in the pub.

If, while you’re racing round the shops, you’ve left someone waiting patiently with the first round of drinks bags, keep them posted of your progress by using iCloud to share your shopping list. They will be able to see as you cross things off the list – but take care as you wouldn’t want to spoil any surprise gifts.

While on the subject of waiting around, we can all get carried away with shopping and socialising and perhaps miss an agreed rendezvous time. Try to ensure the time your nearest and dearest spend waiting for you is as painless as possible, by reminding them about iBooks, and how iCloud makes it possible to continue reading the same book across any of your iOS devices. So, if the iPad is on the bedside table at home, no matter, carry on reading on the iPhone while you’re out.

Looking for an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch?

If during the excitement of shopping (or partying) you lose one of your Apple devices, fear not, just use the Find My iPhone app from another iOS device to find it.

How about treasure hunting?

Come Boxing Day, liven up your traditional walk with the introduction of Geocaching, an outdoor, treasure hunting game for all the family. Download the app to your phone and navigate to a treasure target of your choice. Alternatively, make your own treasure box and register it with the site for others to find.

Don’t miss your favourite programs

Don’t worry, if while out on your walk, or visiting Auntie Edna, that you’ve forgotten to set your Sky box to record your favourite program, just use the Sky+ app to record what you want to see from wherever you are. Take a look at the other apps you can use to access your Sky programs.

Thank You

Finally, we’d like to thank all of you for your support throughout 2011.

We wish you a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
