Mertech announces Documentor PM

  • by

Mertech announces Documentor PM – i.e., their software documentation product is now available to use on a per month pay-as-you-use licensing model. Documentor generates software design documentation directly from Visual DataFlex and character mode DataFlex application source code, and is perfect for those legacy systems that aren’t fully documented.

This approach provides a cost-effective alternative for using Documentor in short-term projects where outside contractors are brought in to maintain or enhance existing Visual DataFlex projects. Documentor is the first product of its kind to generate and maintain technical design documentation directly from DataFlex and Visual DataFlex application source code.

Document your DataFlex software

DocuMentor breaks down the complexity of DataFlex application source into an easy to follow cross-referenced HTML-based report that allows developers to understand the architecture of the application far more quickly than going through each source module or reviewing manually written design documentation. DocuMentor produces a report which provides details of structure, definition and instances of program elements such as classes, functions and procedures, database files and fields, UI-elements with visual representation, global variables, constants and macros. From the report, you can click on links to jump to the definition or instances of the element within the report. The report provides the names of source modules where the element is used and the exact line number within each module.

Legacy DataFlex systems

If you are maintaining DataFlex legacy systems you should be aware that you can find answers to DataFlex questions on DataFlex.wiki and also on the Data Access Support Forums. Of course, if you need help with maintaining any DataFlex systems, e.g. migrating to newer versions or programming support, please contact us.
